Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

• Perform day-to-day credit analysis related to ratings, research, presentations, and investor outreach

• Lead the analytical responsibilities related to assigned portfolios such as building proprietary models and new financial projections as applicable, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data for companies and broader industry sectors, analyzing transaction documents and implications of transaction structures and terms, preparing rating council materials, writing analytical commentary in accordance with credit rating methodologies

• Present credits effectively and comprehensively in rating councils and other internal analytical meetings

• Develop strong working knowledge of credit rating methodologies and best practices, applying these with minimal guidance; demonstrate the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect issuer credit ratings, apply analytical skills and judgment to formulate well-reasoned credit conclusions

• Monitor credit quality and issuer and/or portfolio trends by following market developments, earnings calls, analyzing issuer reporting, and engaging with issuers directly for follow-up clarification and information

• Adhere to applicable codes of conduct, policies, procedures, regulations and best practices


Research & Investor Outreach

• Conduct credit research and writing credit reports, special comments and outlooks for companies and industry sectors, other thematic research
• Interact with senior company executives, investors, intermediaries and press/media

• Attend investor briefings and issuer meetings as required; prepare presentation materials; arrive prepared to engage and lead in discussions

• Build and maintain high profile relationships with investors, issuers and other market participants; display initiative to understand credit issues and proactively responds to inquiries

• Present credit and research views confidently and with insight in industry forums and events

• Collaborate effectively and in a highly collegiate fashion with other team members

Credit Administration

• Perform analytical tasks related to portfolio reviews and other credit projects

• Demonstrate competency in processing ratings and research through internal systems and utilize software specific to the rating group. Construct and take ownership of analytical databases as applicable. Identifies all issues with data for follow-up with lead analysts

• Demonstrate thorough understanding and judgment in applying internal processes, documentation standards and best practices, adhering to all regulations and policies

• Actively participate in special projects while concurrently maintaining consistently high performance in core responsibilities. Provide significant input into various analytical and statistical projects

Coaching & Guidance

• Work closely with senior managers and contribute to training and on-boarding of new staff

• Serve as a resource on more complex credit questions and issues for less experienced staff. Act as mentor to more junior staff, for topics such as research writing, issuer relationship management and credit process

Requirements/Qualifications

• University or higher degree in economics, finance, banking, accounting, audit, statistics, business administration or professional field in the business lines of credit rating agencies. Graduate/second level degree (Masters, MBA) a plus

• Between three (3) to seven (7) years’ working experience in any of the fields: economics, finance, banking, accounting, audit, statistics, business administration or professional field in the business lines of credit rating agencies

• Strong quantitative aptitude and demonstrated analytical ability. Understanding of complex transaction structures, with exposure to documentation review


• Articulate and succinct communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in English and Vietnamese. Previous experience in writing research in either an equity or credit market context would be advantageous

• Strong organizational skills with sound judgment and attention to detail

• Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, honesty, independence, thoroughness, responsibility and accountability
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Enjoy engaging in team work with a positive and constructive attitude
